What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is the process of exploration and change, through deep conversations with a mental health professional. Through this collaborative work, you will be guided in examining patterns of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors without judgment.
At Lucid Minds, we believe therapy is an essential tool for personal growth that everyone should be able to use for exactly that purpose. While therapy is one of the best methods for treating mental health conditions and healing trauma, psychotherapy is more than just symptom management or treatment for mental health conditions. Psychotherapy is for personal growth, and personal growth is for everyone.
Therapy may be conducted in an individual, family, couple, or group setting, and can help both children and adults. Sessions are typically held once a week for about 50 to 60 minutes. During psychotherapy, both the patient and therapist are actively involved, where building trust is essential to working together effectively.
Psychotherapy can be short-term (a few sessions), dealing with immediate issues, or long-term (months or years), dealing with more profound personality changes. The goals of treatment and arrangements for how often and how long to meet are planned jointly by the patient and therapist.
